[Video] 7 Steps for Growing Bountiful Beans

Enjoy garden-fresh beans all season long with these simple tips for success with climbing beans…

Beans are a must-have crop in just about any garden! Prolific, vigorous, and long-lived, most varieties of beans will keep on producing throughout the summer months, provided they have enough water and sunlight. If you have a long enough growing season, you can plant multiple plantings to stagger your harvest for a second crop during the fall months.

Pole beans are particularly useful for space-challenged gardens, as they love to climb any type of support, so you can use your vertical space for growing lots of tasty, fresh beans for your table, without sacrificing too much of your precious garden space. You can grow them on a fence, trellis, teepee, or even a wall.

There are many types of climbing beans, from regular old green beans, to scarlet runner beans, Chinese long beans, and even various types of drying beans such as climbing lima beans or black-eyed peas.
