[Video] Best Succession Crops for the Summer Garden

Watch this to learn which veggies to plant now for a continuous harvest…

As we move through the garden season, harvests are starting in earnest. (In our garden, we’ve been picking cucumbers, herbs, and green beans almost daily, and we just dug the garlic and will soon pull out the potatoes.)

As certain crops mature and are removed, this is a great time to consider filling in those gaps with other crops, in order to keep your harvest season going as long as possible. Filling in bare areas as they appear also helps to minimize weeds and protect your soil health.

This technique – called succession planting – is a great way to maximize your available garden space, and enjoy more fresh, homegrown produce from your garden! There are lots of veggies that work well for planting in succession, and the short video below will take a closer look at some of the best of them.

Keep an eye out for space opening up in your garden as the summer progresses, and fill in with some of these crops as soon as you can to extend your harvest into the fall months.
