Kale is a great crop to grow in the winter. Even in Central Ohio and Northern locations, it may survive the winter with just a bit of protection – and the cold weather actually gives it a delicious sweetness that’s hard to beat!
We grow kale in our winter garden every year, and not only does it provide us with tasty greens in the fall and into the winter months, but it almost always overwinters and gives us a whole new crop the next spring and early summer. In fact, we have had some kale plants live all the way through 3 growing seasons with minimal protection!
