[Video] How to Build a Space-Saving Vertical Salad Garden

Save space and grow great fall salad greens with this simple and innovative vertical salad garden design! Watch the video below to learn how to build your own…

Fall is a great time to grow salad greens, and while you’re at it, why not save some space with a fun and functional vertical salad garden? With cooler weather just around the corner, salad greens like lettuce, arugula, and spinach will be entering their prime growing season. However, bushy and leafy lettuces can take up a lot of space in your garden, and they can’t exactly climb a trellis…

But this doesn’t mean you can’t grow salad greens vertically!

If you don’t have the space for a bed of bushy lettuces, try growing your salad greens in a “tower”-like design, such as the one shown in the video below. They are simple and cheap to build, add a unique look to your garden, and will give you a delicious harvest of fall salad greens until frost arrives! (In fact, you can even protect them on cool nights by simply tossing a blanket over your vertical salad garden.)

An avid gardener since childhood, I love sharing my passion for gardening with others! I have gardened in a number of different climates and settings, from large fenced garden plots, to tiny patio and container gardens, and I firmly believe that everyone can learn to grow at least some of their own food - no matter where you live. Growing your own food can help you take control of your own health and food supply, and there has never been a better time to get started!
