[Video] How to Grow Big Organic Onions

Follow these tips to consistently grow beautiful, big organic onions in your home garden plot…

Have you ever planted onions in your garden and waited…and waited…and waited…but they remained tiny little bulbs, even as the season ended and the tops withered?

This is a common issue that many gardeners have experienced – myself included. Sometimes we have huge onions, and other years they seem to barely size up at all. The good news is, it IS possible to consistently grow great big organic onions, and it’s actually not that difficult!

This video from MI Gardener was really helpful for me. Since we live in Ohio, I appreciate his tips as a Northern gardener, and will be applying these suggestions to my onion patch this summer!

The trimming tip was especially helpful, since we like to save our onion tops in the freezer to use in homemade stock or soups and stews. Trimming them early ensures you’ll get a crop of both larger onion bulbs, and fresh green onion tops for use in cooking – which means you get even more usable food out of every onion plant!
