[Video] The Future of Growing Food

As we enter a new year, consider what the future of growing food might look like…

As a sustainable gardener, you may feel that you have a special mission. Your mission may be to protect the earth and its microbial (and other) inhabitants. It may be to provide healthy and chemical-free food to your family. It may be to honor your body and your connection to the world around you. Or it may simply be the satisfaction of enjoying food that you grew and brought to the table with your own hands.

But what about the next generation? Have you thought about how our younger generations feel about food, and what the future of homegrown food might be?

This is a more thoughtful video to start off the year, and in it, Stacey Murphy discusses how she feels about the future of growing food, new food technologies, and what she feels the younger generation should know when it comes to gardening.

What about you? What do you want to tell the next generation of gardeners about growing food? What do you wish someone would have told you about gardening before you started? Join the conversation on our Facebook page and share your thoughts!

An avid gardener since childhood, I love sharing my passion for gardening with others! I have gardened in a number of different climates and settings, from large fenced garden plots, to tiny patio and container gardens, and I firmly believe that everyone can learn to grow at least some of their own food - no matter where you live. Growing your own food can help you take control of your own health and food supply, and there has never been a better time to get started!
